Frugal Fridays - DIY Eye Makeup Remover

Happy Friday!! This is another Frugal Friday post that falls into the "bath & beauty" category.   I'll admit I am a girly girl so I suppose that it only makes sense that I would have so many posts that fall into that category....but anywhooo!  I realized the other day that I have this terrible habit of going to bed without taking off any of my eye makeup.  I have been doing it for quite some time but it dawned on me recently that it really cannot be good for my skin or my eyes.  I tend to wear a lot of different eye shadow colors in addition to a liquid eye liner and mascara.  During the night, while I am sleeping, all of that stuff is just sitting there chilling on my eyes...EWW!  So I decided that I would start making a conscious effort to take my makeup off before I went to sleep.  Then I thought of an even better idea...make it a Frugal Friday experiment and make my own eye makeup remover.  I found an awesome eye makeup remover DIY on a blog called White House, Black Shutters and had to try it out!  Here's how it's done...

You will need:

Step One:  Take the paper towel out of the plastic and cut it in half
Step Two:  Place one half of the paper towel into the tupperware container
Step Three:  Pour the water, coconut oil and face wash into the center of the paper towel roll
Step Four:  Remove the cardboard roll in the center
Step Five:  Place the lid on the container and keep in your bathroom so that you can use them to take off your eye makeup!!

Please note that the paper towel I used was not the highest quality so it did end up smooshing up a bit as you can see in the photo above.  A higher quality paper towel would ensure that this wouldn't happen.

Also note that as you can see in the picture above these DIY eye makeup remover wipes worked just as well as a makeup remover that you would purchase in the store (and for some reason I appear upset in both of these photos...I am excited about these, really!!)  They may not look very fancy but they work so well.  As an added perk, the coconut oil is really moisturizing which is good for the skin around your eyes (since it is very sensitive thin skin) and it's good for your beautiful eyelashes too!!

Another Frugal Friday success!!  Try them out and let me know how they work for you!!

Lots of Love,
Meg
