Frugal Fridays - DIY Hair Mask

This week's Frugal Friday post falls into the "at home spa" category!  I found this awesome 2 ingredient hair mask on a blog called Petit Elefant and tried it out this morning.  I have been growing out my hair and so during this past year, I have been learning the importance of taking care of it. When I stumbled upon this hair mask, I couldn't resist the urge to try it out.  The concept of only needing 2 ingredients is really what got me but the fact that it's good for your hair and doesn't involve going to the store and spending money on a hair mask was equally exciting!  Here's the scoop folks...

You will need:

Step One:  Pour the Honey & Olive Oil into a bowl
Step Two:  Put in the microwave for 20 seconds
Step Three:  Mix together the best that you can - Honey & Olive Oil don't exactly get along
Step Four:  Wet your hair (You want all of your hair wet but not dripping wet)
Step Five:  Slowly put the hair mask onto your hair - starting at the ends and working your way to the scalp
Step Six:  Pile your hair on top of your head and either wrap your hair in plastic wrap, put on a shower cap or wrap it up in a towel (this step utilizes your natural body heat as it will be trapped under whatever cover you choose and help the mask work it's way into your hair)
Step Seven:  Leave it on for 30 minutes (I KNOW...30 minutes is a long time but if you just go about your morning chores around the house or just sit and watch TV or read a book for a bit, it will go by super quick!)
Step Eight:  Shampoo your hair like normal - No conditioning though!  The mask has taken care of the moisturizing!
Step Nine:  Enjoy how soft & happy your hair is!

*Side Note - Wear a crummy shirt just in case some of the mask gets on your clothes
**Another Side Note - Be sure to thoroughly wash and rinse your hair or you will have some leftover honey and olive oil hanging out in there for the day...
***One more Quick Note - You may need to use more or less depending on the length and thickness of your hair.  The idea is to cover all of your hair in a thin layer of the hair mask so just use as little or as much as you need!

This mask worked really well on my hair!  Try it out and let me know how it works for you and your tresses!

Lots of Love,
Meg
