DIY Projects - Heat Wrap

Have you ever had the pleasure of placing a warm and calming lavender heat wrap over your forehead when you have a headache or over your shoulders to ease muscle aches?  I have and they are amazing!  I have been meaning to make this DIY heat wrap for months now and am so excited that I finally finished this nifty project.  You only need a few items to make this; however, it does involve some very minimal sewing!  I know, I know, this is the part where you think, "SEWING? NOPE!  I'll find a different project to work on!"  Or at least that's what I usually do when I find an awesome DIY project but later find out sewing is involved.  If you have a sewing machine, this will be super easy.  If you don't, I recommend mooching on someone else's or hand sewing to the best of your ability.  Aside from the sewing challenge, this project is a piece of cake!

You will need:

Step One: Cut the sock at the ankle line
Step Two:  You can choose to discard the foot portion of the sock or save it for a future DIY project of some sort (**OR...BONUS IDEA: You can make a mini heat wrap and use it as a hand warmer**)
Step Three:  Turn the sock inside out
Step Four:  Take the end of the sock that you've just cut and sew it closed

Step Five:  Turn the sock right side out again
Step Six (if you are using an essential oil):  Pour the bag of rice into a bowl, add 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice and stir
Step Seven:  Using a funnel, pour the rice into the inside of the sock (if you don't have a funnel you can use a scoop or just carefully pour the rice in, the mess free option is to use a funnel but you can make it work without)
Step Eight:  Sew the other end of the sock closed and YOU ARE DONE!

Side Note: You want to make sure that you don't fill the sock up completely with rice, you want to be able to move the rice around.  If you put too much rice in, it will not form to your forehead or neck.

Take your homemade heat wrap and place it in the microwave for one minute.  Take it out of the microwave and use as needed.  This can be used as a hand warmer, a neck warmer, a heating wrap for aching muscles or a head wrap for headaches and migraines.

I know I am in love with mine and I am sure you will enjoy yours too!
